If a finished commission isn’t what you expected, you still have options. Here’s what to do without making things more stressful than they need to be.
- Talk to the creator
Start by messaging the creator directly. Explain clearly which parts you’re unhappy with and why, point to specific details like colors, pose, style, or missing elements. A lot of issues can be fixed once the artist understands your concerns. - Ask for revisions
Most creators are willing to make reasonable changes. When you ask, be specific about what you’d like adjusted so you’re both on the same page about what “fixed” looks like. Make sure you also understand how many revisions are included and whether extra changes might cost more. - Recheck what was agreed to
Before escalating, look back at the commission details and any terms you agreed to (revision limits, delivery expectations, what was promised). This can help you see whether the problem is that the artist didn’t meet the agreement, or that something wasn’t clearly defined from the start. If it’s outside what was originally agreed, you can still bring it up, just be upfront about that in your conversation. - Contact support if you can’t resolve it
If you’re entitled to revisions or a certain result and the creator is unresponsive or refuses to help, you can open a dispute by emailing hello@commissions.gg. Share a summary of what’s wrong, and any screenshots or messages that show what was agreed. Our team will talk with both you and the creator and work toward a fair solution, which might mean more revisions, a partial refund, or in some cases a full refund. - When a refund may be possible
You may be eligible for a refund if the work doesn’t match what was agreed to, the creator hasn’t delivered within the agreed timeframe, or they refuse to fix clear issues that are still within scope. Whether it’s a partial or full refund will depend on how much work was done and the specific situation.
We want both clients and creators to feel they’re being treated fairly. If you’re unsure what to do or just want another set of eyes on the situation, reach out to our support team and we’ll help you figure out the next steps: hello@commissions.gg
