What's your stance on Generative AI?
We do not support the use of generative AI for creative work on Commissions.gg.
Our platform exists to support human artists. Generative AI changes the role of the artist from someone who creates the work to someone who prompts a system to produce it. A lot of the times, these systems are trained on datasets of existing artwork and often does so without the knowledge or consent of the artists. Because of this, AI generated art doesn’t align with our goal of building a platform where creatives are valued and fairly compensated.
Is all AI bad?
AI is already embedded in many tools people use every day. Things like spam filters that protect your inbox, search engines that help you find relevant information, translation tools, your navigation app, etc.
The distinction we care about is how AI is being used. Is it being used to replace the labor of an artist that you would otherwise have to hire? Is it being trained off of the work of artists who don't consent? In cases like these, we do not support the use of AI.
Respect Creators’ Art
We do not allow users to pull, copy, or reuse artists’ work from this site to train AI systems. If you do, your account will be permanently banned.
What happens if you break the rules
- First time: we remove the content and send a warning.
- Second time: your account is suspended.
- Repeated or serious violations: permanent ban.
